Beijing Hyundai fifth factory completes construction on July 19th, producing new Verna

Beijing Hyundai’s fifth factory began construction in June, 2015 in Chongqing. According to plan, the new factory will be put into production in August this year, with the first model of small-size car new Verna. It’s known that the fifth factory will be officially completed on July 19th. The new factory will have an annual capacity of 300,000 units, and the total annual capacity for Beijing Hyundai’s five factories will reach 1.65m units.

Beijing Hyundai will launch new Verna firstly, with the new platform REINA being built simultaneously. The factory, with a total investment of RMB 7.75b, will produce 300,000 units’ engines per year.

New Verna accomplished its first debut on Chongqing Auto Show, with big-size hexagonal grille on the front face showing a magnificent image. It’s expected that the new model will equip with 1.4L naturally-aspirated engines. The engine will have a maximum power of 74 KW and peak torque of 132 NM. It will equip with 5-speed MT or 4-speed AT gearboxes.
