Shanghai (Gasgoo)-Relevant departments held a press conference to explain the details of newly-released Shanghai Fuel Cell Vehicle Development Plan on September 20th.
It’s introduced that fuel cell vehicle industry started early in Shanghai, with R&D and industrial layout beginning in the year 2003. During the period of 2010 Shanghai World Expo, about 200 fuel cell vehicles including sightseeing buses, buses and cars, were displayed in Shanghai, bringing great echoes across the globe.
All developed countries are paying great attention on the developments of fuel cell vehicles. It’s predicted that the global fuel cell vehicles will enter into fully commercial phase in the year 2020. All industrial giants are joining with each other to form extensive cooperation with energy companies, showing the trend that vehicle companies will lead the whole industrial chain’s developments.
China has also attached great importance on the development of fuel cell vehicle industry by intensively introducing relevant policies in recent years. Currently, there are more than 30 companies in Shanghai focusing on technological R&D and manufacturing of fuel cell vehicles, forming a complete industrial chain. Relevant plans and projects needed to be launched urgently in Shanghai to size the 3-5 years’ window period and establish its competitive strength in fuel cell vehicles’ competition.
It’s introduced that the new plan involves three periods. In the first period, key technologies with international standards will be developed in 2020 with the annual output value of whole industrial chain exceeding RMB 15b. In the second period, a series of fuel cell products will be launched by 2025 with the annual output value of whole industrial chain exceeding RMB 100b. In the third period, the annual output value of industrial chain exceeds RMB 300b and leads the multi-application of national fuel cell products.
