China-built Audi e-tron rolls off production line in Changchun

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The China-built Audi e-tron has already rolled off the production line at FAW-VW's Changchun plant, according to a local media outlet. The luxury BEV model will be showcased at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2020 (the Auto China 2020) before it hits the market this year.

The exterior of the Chinese-spec Audi e-tron stays true to the imported version. As a full-size SUV, the Audi e-tron represents a sporty exterior design characterized by strong-yet-sleek aerodynamic bodywork. The smooth panels cover surfaces from front to rear with several grooves helping optimally direct airflow, such as the lines on the bonnet. Restricted by local laws and regulations, the homegrown version still adopts conventional rearview mirrors rather than side-mounted cameras.

The domestically-made e-tron measures 4,901mm long, 1,935mm wide and 1,640mm tall, and has a wheelbase spanning 2,928mm. It is armed with two electric motors—the one at the front axle is good for up to 115kW and 226N·m, while the rear can churn out a maximum of 172kW and 314 N·m. The 142Wh/kg ternary-lithium battery pack enables a NEDC-rated range of 465km.

FAW-Volkswagen is about to exhibit 10 plus key models at the Auto China 2020, 7 of which will be firstly seen by the viewers.

The all-new Audi Q5L Sportback, Audi brand's first long-wheelbase luxury B-segment coupe SUV, will make its world’s debut in Beijing. Besides, the Audi Q4 e-tron concept, is to make its Asian premier there, demonstrating Audi's cutting-edge technical insight in electrification area. Apart from the China-made e-tron, the Audi e-tron Sportback will also be unveiled to the public in China.
