Gasgoo Munich- BYD's premium DENZA brand opened pre-sales for the Z9S battery-electric sedan on August 3, offering three variants priced between 319,800 yuan and 389,800 yuan.
The FLASH Charging Premium, FLASH Charging Flagship and e³ FLASH Charging Performance versions carry pre-sale prices of 319,800 yuan, 349,800 yuan, and 389,800 yuan, respectively. Final prices will be announced when the model officially goes on sale.

The DENZA Z9S adopts a low-slung fastback profile shaped around DENZA's “Elegance in Motion” design theme. It measures 5,090 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,490 mm tall, with a 3,025-mm wheelbase.
Although slightly more compact than the existing Z9, it remains firmly in the mid-to-large sedan segment and is longer than many of its potential rivals in China's premium electric vehicle market.
A split-headlight arrangement defines the front end, with two narrow LED strips positioned above vertically mounted main lamps. Sculpted hood lines, a full-width lower panel and a two-piece front lip give the car a more performance-oriented appearance.
A roof-mounted LiDAR supports the vehicle's driver-assistance system. The Flagship and Performance variants also receive a powered front trunk with a claimed capacity of 120 liters.
The blacked-out window treatment and concealed door handles reinforce the Z9S's coupe-inspired silhouette. When the vehicle is unlocked, exterior lighting can project a welcome pattern onto the ground beside the doors.
Buyers can choose from several 19- and 20-inch wheel designs, including more restrained multi-spoke options and sportier designs intended for the higher-performance variants.
At the rear, a slim full-width lighting signature is paired with an aerodynamically shaped bumper. The top Performance version adds an active rear spoiler that adjusts according to vehicle speed to manage airflow and high-speed stability.
Seven exterior finishes are available: Dawn Purple, Midnight Blue, Fjord Green, Star Black, Soft Sand Gray, Turquoise and Frost Silver.
The wraparound cabin is offered in Cloud Mist Purple, Frost Porcelain White and Flame Red. Its design combines a sweeping dashboard, silk-inspired seat detailing and floating door armrests.
Nappa leather upholstery and a suede-like headliner are standard across the range, complemented by metal controls and brushed-metal speaker grilles. The material selection underlines DENZA's effort to position the Z9S as a technology-focused luxury sedan rather than simply a high-performance EV.
A 15.6-inch central display provides access to the infotainment system, including DENZA's DiDiXia AI agent and Diva virtual companion. Interactive ambient lighting provides visual feedback during voice and system operations.
A magnetic accessory panel on the passenger side can hold compatible tablets, headphones, glasses cases and decorative items. Rear passengers receive a separate seven-inch control screen for the climate system, sunshades, seat adjustments, ambient lighting and media functions.
DENZA says the Z9S supports smartphone integration across devices from Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, HONOR and Samsung. It also introduces a small-window mode for Apple CarPlay, allowing phone-based functions to appear without occupying the entire central display.
The cabin contains 44 storage areas. Cargo capacity comprises a 470-liter rear compartment, which can be expanded by folding the rear seats, and the available 120-liter front trunk. A separate touch-sensitive climate panel provides direct access to heating and cooling controls.
All three versions use BYD's second-generation Blade Battery, with a stated capacity of 102.326 kWh, and support the company's FLASH Charging technology. Depending on the configuration, CLTC-rated range stands at 780 km, 920 km or 1,100 km.

DENZA claims the 1,100-km version sets a range record for a series-production battery-electric vehicle. The figure is based on China's CLTC testing procedure and should not be treated as directly equivalent to real-world range or results under the WLTP and EPA cycles.

The two rear-wheel-drive versions use a single 370-kW motor and deliver the 920-km and 1,100-km ratings. The e³ Performance version employs three motors and all-wheel drive, producing a combined 890 kW, or a claimed 1,210 PS. DENZA quotes a zero-to-100-km/h time of 2.68 seconds and a CLTC range of 780 km.
Rear-wheel steering is standard across the lineup. The Performance model uses independently controlled rear wheels with up to five degrees of movement in either direction, giving the sedan a claimed minimum turning radius of 4.75 meters.
The e³ chassis enables functions such as crab walking, pivot-style turns and a second-generation drift mode. These features are intended to improve maneuverability in confined streets and parking spaces as well as provide additional handling modes.
The Z9S also comes standard with the DiSus-A intelligent air-suspension system and Road Preview 2.0. Using forward-looking sensor data, the system can adjust damping and ride height in response to changing road surfaces.
The Z9S is equipped with the LiDAR-based God's Eye B driver-assistance hardware suite and the latest God's Eye 5.0 software. DENZA says its end-to-end model incorporates reinforcement learning and draws on more than 210 million kilometers of driving data generated daily across BYD's connected vehicle fleet.
The system supports navigation-assisted driving on urban roads and highways, as well as automated parking functions. These remain driver-assistance features: the driver must continue monitoring the road and remains responsible for operating the vehicle.
