Horizon Robotics surpasses 15 million sets in cumulative Journey series SoC volume production

Gasgoo Munich- Horizon Robotics announced on September 3 that cumulative production of its Journey series smart-driving SoC had surpassed 15 million sets.

According to Horizon Robotics, Journey was China's first automotive computing solution to achieve large-scale series production for factory-installed applications and has recorded the country's highest cumulative shipments in its category. The chips are now used in vehicles owned by eight million customers, with more than 40 automobile brands adopting the platform.

The Journey series SoCs entered volume production in 2020 and took five years to reach cumulative shipments of 10 million units. The figure rose to 15 million over the following 12 months, representing annual growth of 39% and reflecting an acceleration in the company's production and delivery volumes.

Horizon Robotics has secured nominations for 500 production vehicle models, including nearly 130 models equipped with mid- to high-level driver-assistance functions. Its existing nominations represent more than 20 million SoC sets, with additional programs expected to enter production progressively.

The company attributed the shipment milestone partly to its network of more than 200 ecosystem partners worldwide. Rather than requiring customers to purchase its chips together with a complete software package, Horizon Robotics offers multiple cooperation models that allow partners to select technologies according to their individual requirements.

Horizon Robotics is also working with Tier 1 suppliers and other partners including Bosch, DENSO, CARIZON, neueHCT and Astemo as it seeks greater participation in the supply chains of international automakers' joint ventures in China and broader overseas growth.

Through its CARIZON joint venture, Horizon Robotics has moved its collaboration with Volkswagen into series production. A full-scenario advanced driver-assistance solution based on Journey 6-series SoCs and the Horizon SuperDrive (HSD) algorithm has entered production and will be fitted to seven new electrified models from Volkswagen's three joint ventures in China. From 2027, the solution is scheduled to expand to a broader range of models based on Volkswagen's China Electronic Architecture.

The Journey 6B made its global series-production debut in a GAC Toyota model. The chip has also secured two orders exceeding 10 million units each: one for Bosch's next-generation multifunction camera platform and another for neueHCT's HCT Luna high-performance integrated front-view camera.

Horizon Robotics has additionally received a nomination for a global passenger vehicle platform from a major German automotive group. The project covers several models and is scheduled to enter large-scale production in 2027, with vehicles destined for China as well as Australia, New Zealand and India.

As Chinese automakers accelerate their international expansion, Horizon Robotics is extending its presence into overseas markets alongside its vehicle-manufacturer customers. Chinese vehicle exports increased 65.3% year over year in the first half of 2026, and Horizon Robotics has established partnerships with all six of the country's largest automakers by export volume.

The company has so far secured nominations for more than 60 export models, while also supplying smart-driving technology for joint-venture automakers' vehicle upgrades.
