The deal extends a longstanding partnership. In recent years, FAW-Volkswagen and Volkswagen Group have used the import expo to deepen ties. This includes bringing in imported parts and Audi vehicles, and strengthening coordination across supply chains, product development, market expansion, and exports.
FAW-Volkswagen will mark its 35th anniversary in 2026. Since its founding in 1991, the joint venture has built a three-brand portfolio spanning Volkswagen, Audi, and Jetta, with models covering both combustion and new-energy vehicles. Cumulative production and sales are on track to surpass 30 million units by 2025.
This year, FAW-Volkswagen has pressed ahead with localization and its shift to new energy. In January, FAW-Volkswagen Jetta Automotive Technology launched in Chengdu, evolving the Jetta brand from a product line into a tech company spanning research, production, supply, and sales.
On the product front, previously agreed Sino-German model plans are moving forward. FAW-Volkswagen launched the ID. AURA T6 in September, followed by the Jetta M6 in October, further expanding its new-energy lineup.
Meanwhile, FAW-Volkswagen is expanding its overseas sales and service networks. The joint venture is introducing China-built vehicles to foreign markets, building a two-way business model that pairs import cooperation with vehicle exports.
