Polestar Officially Became Volvo's Independent Sub-brand with New LOGO

Shanghai, June 22, Gasgoo - Volvo has recently announced that its high-performance car Polestar officially became Volvo's independent sub-brand, which is an electrification global high-performance car company, it also marks that the Volvo is entering the latest stage of transition. Info Agency learned from the Volvo official that after this new sub-brand is established, the production of new models will no longer use Volvo's LOGO, but will use Polestar's new logo.

In 2010, Polestar released the first commercial Volvo C30 Polestar concept car.  By 2015, Polestar was acquired by Volvo, becoming a high-performance sector of Volvo. At this time, the sales of Volvo S60 / V60 Polestar models also expanded to 13 countries and regions, with an limited form.

In order to promote the development of the Volvo brand, on June 21, 2017, Volvo announced Polestar officially became an independent sub-brand, then it will no longer use Volvo’s LOGO, but will hang their own independent Polestar logo. This change allows the Volvo Group to establish a truly differentiated independent brand, and vigorously promote the future development of Polestar.

At the same time, Volvo announced that the original senior vice president of Volvo design Thomas Ingenlath will serve as chief executive officer of Polestar. In 2006 he began to be responsible for all the brand design work of Volkswagen. Then in 2012, Thomas Ingenlath came to Volvo Group and served as senior vice president of design by now.

In the Chengdu Auto Show on 2nd September 2016, Volvo announced the new S60/V60 Polestar listed in China, the official guidance price were respectively 606,900 Yuan and 636,900 Yuan, Polestar officially entered the Chinese market. As a performance version model, in the appearance , S60 / V60 Polestar is equipped with sports suite and it has a unique body color. In terms of power, S60 / V60 Polestar is equipped with a Drive-E series of 2.0 liter double pressurized (turbo + mechanical) inline four-cylinder engine, in the future plug-in hybrid system will also be added, while the previous system is 8-speed manual gearbox.
