Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Dongfeng Motor Corporation released a plan for its overseas business at a press conference dubbed Belt and Road With You on Feb. 4, saying that it will deliver 150,000 vehicle in foreign countries and expand its presence in the mainstream vehicle markets in Europe and America by 2020.
In order to realize the goal, Dongfeng plans to build three deep KD (knocked down) manufacturing bases, three overseas sales companies and several overseas strategic projects. And based on these plans, Dongfeng Motor will establish KD mode, sales platform mode, strategic cooperation mode and One Belt and One Road following mode characterized with Dongfeng style. In the next three years, Dongfeng Motor will introduce 10 to 15 new models and NEV models into the market in different regions.
During the press conference, Dongfeng Motor Corporation set three operating targets for 2018. First, it aims to achieve an annual sales target of 4,500,000 vehicles. Second, it is ambitious to gain higher growth rate than that of vehicle market. Third, Dongfeng intends to achieve continuous improvement in benefits.
When it comes to commercial vehicle (CV) area, Dongfeng Motor plans to improve key technologies. It also spares no effort to develop high-powered CV, tractor and specialty cars to improve its weakness in some vehicle segments and take up market shares by seizing the chances of political strategies.
In the self-owned passenger vehicle market, Dongfeng expects to foster the overall improvement of products, marketing, service and brand and develop a systematic capability of the whole value chain from R&D to marketing. Besides, it will complete and promote the three-year rejuvenation plan for Dongfeng Fengshen.
Dongfeng will give the top priority to completing the development plan for its NEV business, and also accelerate the development and realization of the commercialized projects from self-owned as well as JV vehicle brands. What's more, Dongfeng is determined to master the core resources of battery, electric motor and electric control system. In 2018, the company aims to complete an annual NEV sales target of 80,000 units.
At the meantime, as the intelligent connected vehicles develop rapidly, Dongfeng plans to accelerate the establishment of intelligent connected vehicle platform, aiming to build up a digitalized and innovative company.
