Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 11, Dongfeng Fengguang and Baidu jointly launched the intelligent crossover SUV Fengguang iX5 that carries Baidu's Apollo in-vehicle intelligent system. The new model will go on sale in the last quarter of this year, according to Dongfeng Fengguang.
According to local media, the Fengguang iX5 may have its public debut at Auto China 2018 in Beijing later this month.
From the details exposed in the launching conference, the new model has been elevated in design, craftsmanship and intelligent configurations over the existing models of Dongfeng Fengguang.
As to technical equipment, the Fengguang iX5 adopts many products from its partner, such as Baidu Maps, Baidu's IoV (Internet of Vehicles system) and Baidu Cloud, which possess functions of speech recognition, facial identification, drowsiness detection, etc. Besides, the new model takes advantages of Baidu's leading merits in AI, big data and cloud computing so that the in-vehicle intelligent system is able to be updated online.
In addition, the Fengguang iX5, equipped with forward collision warning system (FCW) and lane departure warning system (LDW), is capable of detecting the risk from the traffic environment and warning dangers through using image processing chips, controllers, sensors, radars, and so on. In the future, the crossover SUV models will be added a series of intelligent driving assistance systems, like traffic jam assist system (TJA) and integrated cruise assistance system (ICA) to further enhance the driving security.
