China car population reaches 235 million units, Ministry of Public Security
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China has owned 322 million motor vehicles and 403 million drivers by the end of September, the Traffic Management Bureau of China's Ministry of Public Security said on October 17.
With the fast growth of the motor vehicle population, drivers are getting increasingly more in China. There are over 400 million drivers in China by the end of September and around 8.45 million drivers newly registered in the country between July and September.
The car population accounted for 72.91% of the country's overall motor vehicle quantity, chalking up 235 million units as of the end of September, among which 2.21million units were NEVs (new energy vehicles). The number of new energy trucks took up 10% of the NEV population. Besides, the population for private cars recorded 184 million units by end-September, said the Bureau.
China has seen a continuous growth in its motor vehicle population. A total of 7.41 million motor vehicles were newly registered in the third quarter, including 6.52 million cars. Meanwhile, the number of newly-registered trucks amounted to 2.41 million from July to September.
