Leapmotor to roll out 3 new models over next 3 years
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese EV startup Leapmotor plans to roll out 3 new models over the next three years, including the LP-S01, the LP-T03 and the LP-C11, based on the S, T and C vehicle platform respectively, according to local media.
The LP-S01 coupe, which has already made its debut earlier this year, will go on sale in 2019. As the startup's first model, the LP-S01 will be sold at no more than RMB200,000 before the subsidy incentive is given.
The LP-S01 will be driven by an integrated powertrain that can generate a maximum power of 170hp and a peak torque of 250N·m, equipped with a ternary-lithium battery pack with an energy capacity of 130Wh/kg. This power system will provide the vehicle with a range of over 400km.
The automaker said the LP-01 has achieved the Level 2.5 autonomous driving applications and will have the Level 3 self-driving system and the OTA (over-the-air) update function by 2020. In addition, Leapmotor plans to test Level 4/Level 5 autonomous vehicles in 2021 within a limited field.
The LP-T03 and LP-C11 will reportedly hit the market in 2020 and 2021. The LP-T03, positioned as a mini-sized BEV (battery electric vehicle) model, adopts the five-door four-seat configuration, sports several intelligent-connectivity applications like cloud-based system and driver assistance functions. The LP-C11 will be a five-door five-seat all-electric SUV model. Powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, the SUV boasts a combine range up to 500km.
