Shanghai (Gasgoo)- FAW Volkswagen said several days ago that the all-new sub-brand of Volkswagen brand will formally be launched in the first quarter of 2019. The test mule of a sedan under the new sub-brand was recently spied on the road. The new model is likely to be built based on the existing Jetta and might be sold with a brand-new name in the future.

The existing Jetta

The new model's exterior looks basically the same as the outgoing Jetta. At the front face, a black matrix-type grille is seamlessly flanked by headlights. The logo of the new brand is expected to be located at the exact middle place. The lower grille features a similar look to that of the Jetta and fog lights may be installed immediately next to the bumper.

Its rear end still presents a strikingly resemblance to the Jetta, while the black-sooted taillights convey greater dynamism. Besides, there are a few nuances in the rear fender—a black trim replaces the white trim for the existing Jetta to underscore a youth sense.

According to previous reports, the new sub-brand will be named as "捷达 (Jeda)", the same as the Jetta's Chinese name, and its new model will be given an all-new name.

FAW-Volkswagen said the all-new sub-brand of Volkswagen brand is designed to further meet the car purchasing demand of China's young users and will enter China's market as the third brand of FAW-Volkswagen. It will be manufactured by the joint venture's Chengdu Branch. The preparatory work is processing, while its manufacturing system and marketing system are almost established.
