Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Huawei, the leading global provider of ICT infrastructures and smart devices, will develop an ecosystem of sensors for intelligent-connected cars, such as LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar, according to the company' rotating chairman Xu Zhijun, who delivered a speech about Huawei's detailed deployment in automobile industrial chain at a connected vehicle conference on October 22.

The aforesaid plan is part of efforts for Huawei to build a MDC (Mobile Data Center) intelligent driving platform. Mr. Xu also revealed that the millimeter-wave radars will derive from Huawei's 5G and photoelectric technologies.

The other three ecosystems for the MDC platform will be algorithm application, execution unit and industry organization of standards.

Focusing on ICT technologies rather than building cars, Huawei is ambitious to become an increment parts supplier for intelligent-connected vehicles. This is the strategy Huawei has been highlighting in public.

To press ahead with the strategy, the company launched in late May the connected vehicle solution BU (business unit), which mainly works on cloud service, intelligent driving, smart cockpit, intelligent connectivity and electrification, said Xu Zhijun.

Additionally, Huawei plans to create a CDC (Cockpit Data Center) platform, aiming to introducing the hardware and application ecosystems of intelligent terminals to the cockpit. This platform will be built on the basis of Huawei's Harmony operating system and the Kirin chipset.

Meanwhile, a VDC platform specifically designed for intelligent electrification will be developed to offer users differentiated experience, improve the performance of electric drive, charging and battery management systems and lower the R&D cost.

In a bid to achieve a thorough connectivity, Huawei endeavors to develop intelligent-connected solutions by virtue of its 4G, 5G and V2X (vehicle-to-everything) technologies, so as to make vehicles, infrastructures and Huawei's cloud platform finally connected.
