China is working on hammer out economic stimulus package to revive automobile spending that has suffered from the coronavirus impact. Aside from Nanchang, local governments of cities like Foshan, Guangzhou, Changsha, Zhuhai and Hangzhou have successively rolled out their countermeasures, of which the cash handout is the most adopted one.

Foshan is the earliest doer after the outbreak, announcing up to RMB5,000 subsidy to car buyers. Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, stated the consumers who buy new energy vehicles from March to December 2020 would be offered the combined subsidy of RMB10,000 per car. Moreover, three cities of Hunan province—Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan—all approved up to RMB3,000 subsidy on new car purchase.

To promote sales of vehicles that meet China Ⅵ emission standard, Foshan, Guangzhou and Tianjin have all confirmed the offering of relevant allowance.

The relaxation of restriction on new vehicle purchase has also been highlighted many times by not only ministry-level departments such as the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, but also local governments like Hangzhou.

In China, cities and provinces where the automobile purchase restriction policy has been implemented include Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Guiyang and Hainan. Of those, Guiyang annulled the restriction and license-plate lottery in last September.
