Xpeng Motors’ second model P7 hits the market with NEDC range of up to 706km
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The Xpeng P7, the second mass-produced model of the startup Xpeng Motors, formally hit the market on April 27 with eight variants offered at one go.
Post subsidies prices of the long-anticipated vehicle range from RMB229,900 to RMB349,900. Meanwhile, the automaker announced that consumers who do the one-off car payment can buy the XPILOT 3.0 advanced driver-assist system and the lifetime service of software upgrade, which are supposed to be priced at RMB36,000 for separate purchase. Customer deliveries will commence at the end of June 2020.
According to Xpeng Motors, the P7 is built on the SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture), according to the XPENG Motors, boasting geometrical curves that radiate minimalist aesthetics. Compared to the G3, the split-type headlights look sleeker. Above the headlights, a strip of LED lights stretching across the front face accentuates the car's width and lower the visual center of gravity.
The key style points of the side profile—fastback design, low silhouette, frameless doors and concealed door handles—create a power coupe posture, further enhancing the P7's sense of movement and decreasing air resistance. Drag coefficient only stands at 0.236.
The new vehicle measures 4,880mm long, 1,896mm wide and 1,450mm tall with a wheelbase that spans 2,998mm, offering passengers a spacious and comfortable seating room.
Inside the vehicle, an occupant can see a 10.25-inch full liquid crystal dashboard display is seamlessly connected with a 14.96-inch touch screen at the center console. It is outfitted with the PILOT 3.0 intelligent driver assistance system, and supports OTA as well as abundant connected features.
The intelligent cockpit is designed to interact with driver and passengers through voice commands, infotainment, and a 600w Dynaudio surround-sound audio environment. Nappa leather styling is designed to create extra touch of luxury.
The Xpeng P7 is the company's first intelligent EV to be powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform, which features the high-performance, energy-efficient Xavier system-on-a-chip (SoC). It is equipped with 12 ultrasonic sensors, five high-precision millimeter-wave radars, 13 autonomous driving cameras, plus one in-car camera with HD map and high-precision positioning.
Xpeng also announced it will leverage the DRIVE platform for its next production model due to its confidence in NVIDIA's AI compute platform.
The long-range RWD carries a 70.8kWh battery pack, while the 80.0kWh pack is available to both the super-long-range RWD and the high-performance AWD versions. They can be recharged to 80% from 30% of their capacities in 28 and 31 minutes respectively using a fasting charging system. Thanks to the powerful power source, the P7 boasts a particularly long NEDC-rated range of up to 706km in some variants (Xpeng P7, photo source: Xpeng Motor).
