NIO adds used car distribution, brokerage onto business scope

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Shanghai NIO Automobile Sale Service Co.,Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of NIO (Anhui) Holding Ltd., has added the distribution and brokerage of used cars on to its business scope, according to the corporate data platform Tianyancha.

Founded in March 2017, the Shanghai-registered sale service provider previously featured a line of businesses covering the automobile sale and related after-sale services, the wholesale, online retail, import and export of auto parts and automobile supplies, and the wholesale, online retail, installation and maintenance of distributed AC charging piles.

NIO has already launched the used car service through its App in last November. The newly-added businesses mainly take aim at the buyers who want to replace their old cars with new NIO's vehicles, meaning that NIO will also be responsible for selling those pre-owned cars, and correspondingly shorten and streamline the car shopping process for consumers.

The new businesses will further enrich NIO's customer-centric solutions, which are of great significance to NIO's sales growth. The EV manufacturer said it delivered 10,331 vehicles in the second quarter of 2020, representing an increase of 190.8% year-over-year and an increase of 169.2% quarter-over-quarter. As of June 30, 2020, cumulative deliveries of the ES8 and the ES6 reached 46,082 vehicles, of which 14,169 were delivered in 2020.

At the ongoing Chengdu Motor Show 2020, NIO's third mass-produced model, the EC6 coupe SUV, hit the market with pre-subsidy prices ranging from 368,000 yuan ($52,562) to 526,000 yuan ($75,129), making NIO move much ahead of its rivals in terms of roll-out of products.
