Li Auto’s parent expands business scope with smart NEV production newly added

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Beijing Chehejia Information Technology Co.,Ltd. (CHJ), the parent company of Chinese EV startup Li Auto, recently made some new businesses like the manufacture of intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs) brought into its business scope.

According to the corporate data platform Tianyancha, the startup has newly added the manufacture of intelligent NEVs, refitted smart NEVs, mobile charging vehicles, NEV-related powertrains and key auto parts into its line of business.

Founded in 2015, CHJ involves a registered capital of 295.464 million yuan ($45.744 million). Li Xiang, founder, chairman and CEO of Li Auto, serves as its legal representative and majority shareholder, holding an equity stake of up to 90.27%.

Nasdaq-listed Li Auto said last week it delivered 5,379 Li ONE SUVs last month. That was down from 6,126 units in December 2020, while skyrocketed 355.8% from the year-ago period. By the end of Jan. 2021, the startup had accumulated 38,976 units in deliveries.

The company also announced the establishment of a new R&D center in Shanghai focusing on the development of cutting-edge electric vehicle technologies, including high-voltage platforms, ultra-fast charging technologies, autonomous driving technologies, next generation intelligent cockpits, operating systems and computing platforms. The R&D hub has already started recruiting, and expects to house over 2,000 staff in the future.

“Its establishment will expedite our new model launches and the development of smart vehicle technologies as we aim to provide our users with increasingly advanced products and services,” said Shen Yanan, co-founder and president of Li Auto.

Li Auto is vigorously pushing ahead with the expansion of its direct sales and service network. As of Jan. 31, 2021, the automaker had launched 60 retail stores in 47 cities, and 121 service centers and Li Auto-authorized body and paint shops covering 89 cities in China.
