Last week, Reuters reported that the telecommunications equipment maker intends to build electric vehicles under its own brand and launch some models this year, citing sources familiar with the situation. The report also said that Huawei was in talks with several automakers to build vehicles, including BAIC Group’s BluePark. But according to BluePark, both parties are not co-working in contract manufacturing, but in jointly launching the Arcfox HBT.
The new vehicle will be equipped with Huawei’s 3 automotive-grade LiDARs, 6 millimeter-wave radars, 12 cameras, 13 ultrasonic radars as well as Huawei’s chips with 352 TOPS of computing power.

The cooperation between the two companies started from September, 2017, when BAIC Group and Huawei announced to deepen partnership. At that time, BAIC BJEV and Huawei set up a lab to co-develop core technologies and build premium intelligent electric vehicles.
In April, 2019, an executive of Huawei revealed that Huawei and BAIC aim to build a world-class vehicle. In October, 2020, the ARCFOX αT, powered by Huawei’s 5G chipset, went on sale.
