Baidu Apollo expands friendship circle for smart transportation business

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Apollo, Baidu's open-source software platform for autonomous car development, struck a pact with Guangzhou Development District to build a pilot zone for ICV (intelligent-connected vehicle) development, and introduced two partners for its smart transportation ecosystem.

Under the newly-formed cooperation, Baidu and local authorities will make joint efforts to build vehicle-infrastructure cooperative road network, and the facilities of intelligent control, smart automobile connectivity as well as smart parking. To establish a system for ICV industry's sustainable development, the Apollo-powered bases focusing on ICV ecosystem construction and autonomous car operation will be launched in the district.

In addition, both parties will jointly explore the new business models applicable to operators who run the urban smart traffic platforms to enhance transportation efficiency and enable a more intelligent road system.

In the meantime, Baidu Apollo also inked agreements with Haylion Technologies (Haylion Technologies) and Tiamaes. Both of them will develop and launch the future intelligent public transportation solutions available for urban open roads based on Baidu’s “ACE (autonomous driving, connected road and efficient mobility) Traffic Engine” and Apollo's leading AI, autonomous driving and vehicle-road infrastructure collaboration.

Haylion Technologies focuses on intelligent driving technology innovation for bus, concept proofing and industrialization development, and strives to provide a solution that integrates electrification, intelligence and shared-mobility service technologies to improve the overall service quality and safety level of urban public transportation. It launched China's first project for the pilot operation of self-driving bus on open roads, and the first electrified bus & taxi charging management platform to China's public transportation industry.
