China issues manual for automotive semiconductor segment

Beijing (Gasgoo)- The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) officially issued a manual including products of automotive semiconductors and demands from automakers at a seminar last week, to ensure the sound development of automotive chip segment.

Qiao Yueshan, Director of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry, said at the meeting that since more and more vehicles will be electrified, connected and intelligent, semiconductors will be much more important than ever before. Currently, demands for computing chips, power chips and memory chips have been surging. And the cycle for computing upgrades has been shortened from two years to half a year.

The MIIT will provide active guidance and support for the development of automotive semiconductor segment and the improvement in supply capacity of integrated circuit. The platform for the segment will strengthen the supply chain construction, improve the efficiency of distribution, and provide strong support for the steady and sound development of the industry.

The manual includes 568 products from 59 companies, covering a total of 10 categories such as computing chip, control chip and power chip. Besides, the manual also contains over 1,000 pieces of demand information from 26 automakers and suppliers. In this way, the ministry tries to facilitate the communication between buyers and suppliers.

Tian Yulong, chief engineer of the ministry, said at a press conference on Monday that the chip industry faces opportunities and challenges at the same time, so it is necessary to form global partnership for joint establishment of chip industry chain and its sustainable development. And the Chinese government will provide strong support.
