JMC New Energy Kunming base to produce 100,000 NEVs per year

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The signing and opening ceremony of JMC New Energy (JMEV) Kunming base kicked off in Yunnan Province on Apr. 11. Involving a total investment of RMB 2.446 billion, the project is planned to have an annual production capacity of 100,000 units. What's more, the project will be constructed into two phases. The first phase is planned to achieve an annual production capacity of 50,000 NEVs. Its general assembly workshop is planned to finish construction and put into operation at the end of 2018. JMC's four new models, the E200, E200S, E160 and E400 will be manufactured at the general assembly workshop.

JMEV had launched five electric passenger vehicle models, the E100, E200, E160, E200S and E400 previously. It also plans to promote the development of the E500, E300, E180, E50 and JMC Group's A-class platform. In the future, JMEV will build three vehicle platforms and develop ten new models. Investing RMB 5 billion in product development, JMEV will shape a complete lineup with product range covering pure electric SUV and MPVs. Moreover, JMEV is dedicated to achieving its goal of taking up more than 10% share of Chinese EV market by 2020. 

JMEV has more than 580 dealers. With pure electric sedan deliveries of 38,000 units, JMEV ranked fifth nationwide and 14th worldwide. JMEV delivered nearly 60,000 pure electric passenger vehicles since it was founded in 2015. During the first three months this year, JMEV sold 6,555 units of pure electric passenger vehicles with a YoY surge of 31.76%. In addition, JMEV is actively tapping into such areas as sharing mobility and charging and battery-swapping of EVs. 

During 2017, JMC Group had built two new NEV bases whose total annual production capacity is expected to be up to 300,000 units with total investment of RMB 24.8 billion. Additionally, JMC Group jointly developed the national intelligent connected vehicle research institute with FAW and GAC. It also established a NEV big data center, an intelligent NEV innovation research institute and a vehicle research institute in Jiangxi Province through cooperating with Tongji University.
