Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Apr. 20, the BYTON Concept, the first concept of BYTON, made its China debut in Beijing, after it was showed off at the CES 2018. It is revealed that BYTON will start presale of the model exclusive to its internal staff members on Apr. 25. In the second half of this year, it is expected that the new model can be ordered by ordinary consumers.
At the same time, BYTON also unveiled some photos of its second model, which is positioned as a middle-sized luxury sedan. The model will make its debut at the CES Asia 2018 in June.
Dr. Carsten Breitfeld, CEO of BYTON, also emphasized that BYTON aims to root in China and to deploy across the whole world. Currently, BYTON has established an intelligent manufacturing base and a product R&D center in Nanjing. At the beginning of April, its trial manufacturing plant in Nanjing finished construction. In the following months, the sample models will roll off the production line and be used in applying qualification as well as in all sorts of tests. What's more, the four technique workshops including stamping, welding, painting and assembling will finish construction in October and will introduce manufacturing equipment.
When it comes to intelligent connected vehicle area, BYTON reached strategic cooperation with Baidu in artificial intelligent (AI) onboard system. At the same time, BYTON has established strategic partnership with world-leading self-driving startup Aurora. According to the previous plan, BYTON’s first mass-produced model will carry the L3 driver assistance function in 2019. In terms of marketing channel, sharing mobility and charging service, BYTON had announced that it had partnered with Suning, saying both parties will make a commitment on innovation planning of new retail and charging service. It is said that both parties will conduct small-scale trial in sharing cars.
BYTON also is clearing its timetable of products promotion and channel construction, based on the localized cooperation with Chinese partners. According to the plan, BYTON will open its first brand experiencing store in Shanghai. In the future, BYTON's brand stores will hit the Chinese, American and European market.
Apart from the existing SUV models, BYTON will release sedan and MPV models in the future, targeting to market them in China, America and Europe in 2021 and 2022.
