Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Jiangling Motors Co., Group (JMCG) and Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (CATL) signed a strategic cooperation agreement on July 25, in the presence of Qiu Tiangao, secretary of the party committee and chairman of JMCG, as well as Zeng Yuqun, chairman and founder of CATL.
According to the agreement, both parties will conduct strategic cooperation in various key models, and they also reached a preliminary agreement on deepening long-term strategic cooperation further. Both parties will vigorously explore a highly-efficient and practical cooperation mode to jointly improve their sustainable development and innovation abilities as well as powerful core competitiveness, by making full use of their advantages in their respective industry.
JMCG, one of China's crucial new energy vehicle makers, ranked fifth among all NEV makers in NEV sales during 2017. CATL is a world-renowned EV battery giant. After they signed the cooperation agreement, JMCG and CATL will further strengthen the cooperation in technology, market and brand, in order to realize complimentary advantages and win-win cooperation.
CATL has established and enhanced its partnerships with a slew of automakers in July. On July 4, Dongfeng Motor and CATL's JV dubbed Dongfeng Amperex (Wuhan) Battery System Co., Ltd. finished construction and started production, marking a significant progress for the cooperation between Dongfeng Motor and CATL. On July 17, CATL signed a strategic cooperation agreement with BMW Brilliance and will further deepen the cooperation with the joint venture. On July 19, GAC Group announced that it plans to sign a joint venture operation contract with CATL in Guangzhou. The two companies intended to jointly invest and establish two joint ventures in Guangzhou, which will be temporarily named as GAC Amperex Power Battery System Co., Ltd. and Amperex GAC Power Battery Co., Ltd.
