Geely Automobile Holding Limited (hereinafter referred to as Geely Automobile and the Group) announced on August 7 that its total sales volume (including Lynk & Co-branded vehicles) in July 2019 reached 91,375 units, a year-on-year decrease of roughly 24%, while up by around 1% from the previous month.

Of the total sales for the month of July, 4,476 units came from new energy and electrified vehicles (NEEVs). The hotter-selling NEEV models were the Emgrand EV, the Jiaji MHEV, the Xingyue MHEV and the Geometry A, which together accounted for around 65% of total monthly NEEV sales.

For the first seven months, sales volume of Geely Automobile totaled 743,055 units, dropping approximately 16% compared with the same period a year ago. By the end of July, the group has already fulfilled 55% of its revised annual sales target—1,360,000 units—in 2019.

BAIC's NEV subsidiary BJEV saw its car sales in July reached 12,509 units, significantly growing 78% year on year, while tumbling 52% compared with the previous month, the parent company BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology Co.,Ltd reported on August 7.

The month-on-month sales slump should be partly attributed to the three-month grace period for new NEV subsidy policy, which made numerous market demands overdrawn before the ending data June 25. By the way, the other major EV maker BYD faced the similar situation for the same reason as well. In July, BYD's NEV sales fell 11.84% year on year and plunged 37.65% month on month.

The Beijing-based EV manufacturer said its year-to-date sales jumped 28% over the prior-year to 77,668 units, completing 35.3% of the 220,000-unit annual sales target it set for 2019.
