XPENG Motors says presale price of P7 sports sedan starts RMB270,000

Shanghai (Gasgoo)— EV startup XEPNG Motors announced at the Auto Guangzhou 2019 that presale prices of its second production model—the P7 sports sedan range between RMB270,000 and RMB370,000. 

Since the debut at the Auto Shanghai, the company said it had received 15,431 pre-orders of the P7 cars. The new model is set for launch in the spring of 2020 and customer delivery of the P7 in China is expected to start in the second quarter of 2020.

The P7, defined as the next-generation intelligent electric coupe, is built on the SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture), according to the XPENG Motors, boasting geometrical curves that radiate minimalist aesthetics. Compared to the G3, the split-type headlights look sleeker. Above the headlights, a strip of LED lights stretching across the front face accentuates the car's width and lower the visual center of gravity.

The key style points of the side profile—fastback design, low silhouette, frameless doors and concealed door handles—create a power coupe posture, further enhancing the P7's sense of movement and decreasing air resistance.

The taillight layout is in tune with that of the front face. Furthermore, a hatchback tailgate might be used to maximize the space utility of the trunk.

With a length of 4.9 meters and a wheelbase of 3 meter, the P7 offers passengers a spacious and comfortable seating space. Powered by a dual-motor 4-wheel-drive drivetrain, the car boasts sporty acceleration to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds, a Cd 0.236 drag, as well as a NEDC-rated driving range of 550+km. Besides, a rear-wheel-drive variant will also be offered with a longer range of up to 650+km and 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds.

At the auto show, more spec details of the P7 were revealed. The startup said the P7's smart audiovisual interactive cockpit contains 47 sensing devices and nearly 50 human-car interaction devices, backed by more than 30 teraflops of computing power. The cockpit is equipped with an 18-speaker top-tier Dynaudio Confidence sound system with ambient lighting to create a mobile concert-hall immersive atmosphere completely responsive to the user's preferences.

Additionally, the P7's Xmart OS responds intuitively to users' commands and preferences. Alongside OTA upgrades, the Xmart OS supports XPENG's APP STORE, with an immense variety of apps ready for download. As part of XPENG's smart mobility ecosystem build-out, the P7 will be the first production car to carry the Alibaba In-car Mini Program, and its Bluetooth virtual key (NFC digital key) will be first embedded in Xiaomi devices such as mobile phones, smartwatches and bracelets.
