Bordrin says mass-made iV6 will hit market this year

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- EV startup Bordrin announced officially its obtainment of NEV production qualification on January 14 via its WeChat account. The company's first model, the iV6, is slated to hit the market in 2020. It is a medium- to high-end intelligent electric crossover SUV, which is undergoing winter testing in Heihe city, Heilongjiang province.

Bordrin Motor was established in August 2016 with a registered capital of 138 million yuan ($20 million). To obtain manufacturing qualification for vehicles, a joint venture between FAW Xiali and Bordrin was officially founded on November 18, 2019 and was granted operating license only two days later, according to FAW Xiali’s annoucement.

Involving a registered capital of RMB2.54 billion ($370 million), the JV is held as to 80.1% by the Nanjing-based startup in cash, while FAW Xiali makes contribution by land use rights, plants and relevant facilities. Reportedly, Bordrin owns R&D hubs and production bases in Detroit, Nanjing, Shanghai, Beijing and Huaian. The automaker plans more than ten models including the iV6 and the iV7 for the next decade, and expects to launch two new models every year from 2022.
