Geely’s Geometry C all-electric SUV hit the market with post-subsidy price starting at 129,800 yuan
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The Geometry C, the second mass-produced and first SUV model of Geely's BEV brand Geometry, formally hit the market on August 7. Post-subsidy prices of its five trim levels range from 129,800 yuan ($18,634) to 182,800 yuan ($26,243).
The Geometry C underscores dynamic aesthetics, featuring several flowing body lines and the in-vogue “floating” sunroof. At the bottom of the front is a grille that changes the opening angles depending on the car's running speed, which is designed for reducing air resistance so as to increase the driving range. For that purpose, the designer also gets the “hidden” door handles installed. Thanks to those ingenious designs, the drag coefficient stands at 0.273.
At the rear, the unmistakable LED light cluster stretches across the entire tailgate, augmenting the futuristic sense for the SUV.
The dimensions of 4,432mm length, 1,833mm wide and 1,560mm tall, and the wheelbase of 2,700mm put the Geometry C squarely in the compact SUV segment.
The interior conveys a similar minimalist aesthetics to that of the Geometry A. Besides, a vehicle occupant can find out many familiar elements if they have seen what the Gemetry A's cockpit looks like, such as the floating console-mounted display, the dashboard, the two-spoke steering wheel and the rotary gear selector.
The new all-electric SUV carries the class-leading Geely Smart Ecosystem (GKUI), Geely's innovative digital cockpit system, and the automotive-grade CN95 cabin filter. Moreover, the equipment of the HUD (head-up display) and the connectivity of the seven-inch projected display, the 12.3-inch touchscreen and the delicate dashboard help highlight the upscale essence of the interior and ensure the driving safety by projecting key information about running speed, navigation and indicators onto the place where a driver can easily notice.
The Geometry C is fitted with an electric motor developed by Nidec, which is good for 150kW and 310 N·m. Powering the vehicle is a CATL-made lithium-ion battery pack with an energy density of 160.28Wh/kg or 183.23Wh/kg, enabling a NEDC-rated range of 400km and 550km.
Based on Geely's BEV-focused platform GE2.0, the Geometry C boasts the SEM (Smart Energy Management) system that includes the ITCS3.0 intelligent battery temperature control system and the heat pump air conditioning system, etc., which help the vehicle offer longer range.
Geometry launched on May 10 its first open-source technology sharing platform “Geometry +”, which is designed to share with the industry its technologies of autonomous driving and ICV, and incubate various technical creative ideas.
At the live-streaming launching ceremony, Feng Qingfeng, vice president of Geely Auto Group, said the “Geometry +” will gradually open up its expertise in autonomous driving, ICV (intelligent-connected vehicle), core technologies related to EVs and industrial design (Geometry C, photo source: Geometry's WeChat account).
