YTD registrations of new charging pile firms reach around 21,000 in China as of May 25

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- As of May 25, there have been around 21,000 charging pile-related companies newly registered so far this year in China, representing a remarkable surge of 159% compared to the same period in 2020, according to the business information platform Tianyancha.

Annual registrations of the companies engaging charging pile business in China have been rising at a year-over-year rate of over 30% during the period of 2016 to 2020. In 2020, more than 29,000 charging pile enterprises were registered in the country, versus 5,000 for the year of 2015, according to Tianyancha.

The platform's data also show there are currently around 130,000 charging pile companies in China, nearly 80% of which were built in recent five years.

The top 3 provinces by total number of charging pile companies are Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Shandong. Guangdong is honored the champion by owning nearly 19,000 firms.

To support the development of new energy vehicle (NEV) industry, the Chinese government is hammering out some policies for improving the deployment of EV charging and battery swapping infrastructures. According to a document China's National Development and Reform Commission recently issued to solicit public opinions, China will boost the construction and installation of charging facilities in residential communities.

The growing registrations of charging pile companies also indicate rising demands for NEVs in China. For the first four months of 2021, China’s NEV outputs and sales amounted to 750,000 units and 732,000 units respectively, soaring 257.5% and 249.2% from the previous year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
