Hefei BYD finishes registration for NEV component project in Changfeng County

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Hefei BYD Automobile Co.,Ltd. (Hefei BYD) completed earlier this month the registration for the project of new energy vehicle (NEV)-related core components, according to the information posted on the website of Changfeng County government.  

According to the registration information, Hefei BYD plans to construct an auto parts manufacturing base covering an area of around 3,918 mu (2.612 million square meters) in Hefei’s Changfeng County. Under the project, a total of 26 workshops, an oil house, an 110kW power station, two hazardous waste warehouses, two hazardous chemical substance stores, a logistics center, and other facilities will be built there.

The aforementioned workshops will be used to manufacture such core components as electric motors, electric control units, high-voltage wiring harnesses, cylinder blocks, as well as engine and brake assemblies. The project is designed to feature an auto parts manufacturing ability to support 400,000 NEVs.

According to the business information platform Qichacha, Hefei BYD was founded on July 12 and is located in Changfeng County. Involving a registered capital of 1 billion yuan ($154.796 million), it is wholly controlled by BYD Auto Industry Company Limited.

Hefei BYD has a line of business including the sale of NEVs and NEV-related electrical accessories, the R&D of auto parts, the wholesale and retail of auto components.

Apart from BYD, Hefei has already attracted a number of NEV manufacturers including NIO, JAC, Volkswagen (Anhui), and Chery (Chaohu). The capital of Anhui province aims to lift its NEV capacity to 1 million units and generate an output value of NEV industry exceeding 100 billion yuan ($15.45 billion) by 2025, according to a document issued by Hefei municipal government in November 2020.
