The partnership is aimed at accelerating the deployment of NEV charging infrastructure while supporting the transition toward greener and more sustainable mobility services in China's vehicle rental market.
As one of China's largest direct-operated car rental platforms, CAR Inc. began accelerating the electrification of its fleet in 2025. During the initial pilot phase, the company introduced 3,000 BYD Qin PLUS DM-i vehicles into its short-term rental operations in April 2025.
According to the companies, the vehicles delivered strong operational efficiency, stable market performance, and positive customer feedback, helping pave the way for a broader strategic alliance signed one month later. Over the course of 2025, CAR Inc. purchased nearly 30,000 BYD vehicles in total, laying the groundwork for deeper cooperation between the two sides.
Under the new agreement, the two companies will expand their collaboration beyond vehicle procurement to include charging infrastructure deployment. BYD plans to install its FLASH Charging facilities at eligible CAR Inc. rental locations nationwide, creating a broader high-speed charging network intended to improve convenience for EV rental users.
The 100,000-unit procurement framework agreement further strengthens BYD's position as a core supplier for CAR Inc.'s electrified fleet while supporting the rental company's ongoing expansion of green mobility capacity.
The large-scale rollout of FLASH Charging technology is expected to become a key factor in improving the NEV rental experience. BYD claims its latest charging system can deliver substantial charging replenishment within five minutes and a near-full charge in nine minutes, with charging times in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius increasing by only around three additional minutes.
The company said the technology is designed to address common concerns among rental users related to charging convenience and driving range. As part of its broader "Flash Charging China" strategy, BYD is accelerating the construction of a nationwide high-density charging network and plans to build 20,000 FLASH Charging stations across China by the end of 2026.
With wider deployment of ultra-fast charging infrastructure, the companies believe NEV rental users will increasingly be able to recharge vehicles during brief stops, making long-distance electric mobility more practical and seamless.
