Gasgoo Munich- BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. and BYD Auto Co., Ltd. have filed recall plans with the State Administration for Market Regulation. The move affects certain Tang and Qin series models, totaling 183,211 vehicles.

Under the recall plan, BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. is calling back 58,026 Tang series units produced between March 28, 2015, and December 21, 2018. The recall also covers 77,846 new-generation Tang DM models built from May 19, 2018, to January 14, 2022, and 7,023 new-generation Tang EV models manufactured between December 27, 2018, and October 25, 2021. Separately, BYD Auto Co., Ltd. will recall 40,316 Qin series vehicles produced from June 27, 2014, to June 9, 2019.
The affected vehicles contain a manufacturing defect that caused an anomaly in the material batch for the brake pedal limit stopper. Prolonged use may cause the stopper to crack or break; in extreme cases, it could detach. This would cause the brake lights to remain illuminated even when the pedal is not depressed, sending false signals to following drivers and creating a safety hazard.
To eliminate the safety risk, BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. and BYD Auto Co., Ltd. will authorize dealers to replace the defective stoppers with improved versions free of charge. Vehicles that have already received the upgraded part will not require a second replacement. The companies plan to notify affected owners via registered mail, telephone, and SMS.
