Gasgoo Munich- BYD has officially brought a new power battery project in Xi'an into full production. Located in the Qinhan Autonomous Driving Industrial Park within the Xixian New Area, the facility focuses on NEV batteries and features cell and pack production lines, alongside essential support infrastructure.

Construction moved swiftly. It took just 10 months from signing the deal to rolling out the first battery cell. The Xixian facility produced its first cells on October 17, 2025. By March 2026, BYD had unveiled its second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology, selecting the Xixian base as a primary production site for the new battery. Trial production began during that same period. The flash charging tech is notable: it can charge a battery from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. Even in freezing conditions of -30°C, a charge from 20% to 97% takes only 12 minutes.
With full operations underway, the Xixian base is now the core hub for mass-producing BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and its flash charging technology. The production lines cover the entire process — from electrode preparation and cell formation to module assembly, pack integration, and system testing. Utilizing a MES smart manufacturing system, the facility is designed for high efficiency and intelligent production. This launch secures a local battery supply for BYD's vehicle manufacturing in Xi'an, further strengthening the regional NEV supply chain.
Following the battery project, BYD has also broken ground on an NEV components facility in the same park, with construction accelerating. This effort is drawing a cluster of upstream and downstream players to the Zhouling Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Zone. To date, BYD and over 40 supporting companies have established a presence. Anchored by these flagship projects, Qinhan New City is rapidly positioning itself as a center for the intelligent connected vehicle industry.
