Gasgoo Munich-On April 8, Gasgoo learned that XPENG CEO He Xiaopeng took to social media to announce the official debut of the GX, a new technology flagship. The launch marks the arrival of what the company calls its technological masterpiece for the physical AI era.
Breaking down the name, He noted that "G stands for Greatness, while X represents Exploration." This AI-powered, new luxury, six-seat flagship SUV is not just a super-intelligent agent—it aims to reset the benchmark for technology flagships in the coming era.
Positioned as a strategic product for the physical AI era, the GX integrates XPENG's cutting-edge achievements across multiple frontiers. "We've distilled every industry-leading technology we have into this single vehicle," He emphasized. The package includes three core pillars: intelligent driving technology derived from Robotaxis, safety redundancy systems from flying cars, and the chip and architecture technology powering embodied intelligence.

Citing previously leaked details, the GX features full-stack proprietary intelligent driving technology sourced from XPENG's Robotaxi program. It packs four in-house Turing AI chips, delivering a total computing power of 3,000 TOPS—the highest level among mass-produced vehicles globally. The system supports XNGP 5.0 and is upgradable to Level 4 autonomous driving. Real-world testing is already underway on open roads in Guangzhou, featuring "hands-off, feet-off" capabilities with the manufacturer explicitly assuming liability for accidents.
On the safety front, the GX inherits the multi-dimensional redundancy systems from XPENG's flying car division. Critical systems—including steering, braking, communications, and power—feature dual backup designs, significantly boosting the vehicle's overall safety margin.
Regarding spatial design, the GX is positioned as an AI-driven, new luxury, large six-seat flagship SUV. Measuring 5,265mm long, 1,999mm wide, and 1,800mm tall with a 3,115mm wheelbase, it utilizes a 2+2+2 layout. The company claims a "center stage for every seat" and that "every row can recline flat." By optimizing seat structures and spatial layout at the architectural level, even the third row accommodates adults comfortably—without compromising trunk capacity.
Chassis technology highlights include steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering systems, which markedly enhance handling agility. These work in tandem with an air suspension to strike a balance between comfort and sportiness.
He Xiaopeng stated that the GX pushes the technical boundaries across safety, chassis, intelligent driving, and space, aiming to disrupt the standards for future flagship SUVs. The model fills a gap in XPENG's lineup for full-size, six-seat flagships, going head-to-head with popular rivals like the Li Auto L9 and AITO M9. Centered on the motto "no compromises for the family car," it promises a new luxury mobility experience for the AI era.
