Gasgoo Munich-Smart China revealed on September 7 that an early bird program for the smart #2 is imminent. The new model is positioned as a two-seater all-electric micro sedan.

The smart #2 serves as the all-electric successor to the smart fortwo. Built on a 100% proprietary ECA electric compact architecture, the model was styled by Mercedes-Benz's global design team. It measures 2,751 mm or 2,764 mm in length, 1,669 mm wide, and 1,555 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 1,875 mm. The vehicle has a curb weight of 1,130 kg, a gross vehicle weight of 1,315 kg, and a top speed of 140 km/h.
On the powertrain front, the vehicle features a 60 kW rear-mounted motor and a 35.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack using cells from CATL. It offers a range of nearly 400 km under CLTC conditions, while DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes 20 minutes. The minimum turning diameter is a tight 6.95 meters.
Slated for a global debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, the smart #2 is expected to hit the market in November. The model was first spotted in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) 410th batch of product filings back in August.
