GENERAL Motors Corp reported sales on the Chinese mainland market rose 25 percent in the first quarter of this year from a year earlier, helping to boost its share in the world's second largest auto market.
The world's biggest auto maker and its joint ventures on the Chinese mainland sold 291,588 vehicles from January to March, with March posting strong sales of 100,538 units.
The burgeoning sales helped to drive GM's first-quarter market share in the mainland to 13.9 percent, a 0.5 percent gain from the same period last year.
It was the second time that GM saw its monthly sales break the 100,000-unit mark this year.
