GAC, GreenV, and 99 Join Forces to Fill Brazil's Charging Gap

Edited by Taylor From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich-GAC Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (GAC Energy) and GAC International have teamed up with GreenV, a leading Brazilian charging infrastructure operator, and mobility platform 99 to accelerate the build-out of the country’s EV charging network. The quartet recently announced a strategic partnership to that end.

Under the agreement, the partners aim to deploy 242 fast-charging stations across Brazil by 2030, creating a widespread and highly efficient replenishment system.

The alliance unites four pillars of Brazil’s electrification ecosystem—automotive manufacturing, charging equipment, infrastructure operations, and mobility services. It marks a shift from isolated breakthroughs to a new stage of ecosystem-wide synergy for the country’s new energy vehicle industry.

Brazil’s EV market is surging, yet lagging infrastructure remains a critical bottleneck. Data from the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE) shows that as of February 2026, the country had 21,060 public and semi-public charging stations—a 42% year-on-year increase. But with the plug-in vehicle fleet approaching 395,000 units, the ratio of cars to chargers sits at a staggering 18.7:1. Supply is failing to keep pace with rapidly expanding demand, leaving a massive gap.

"This partnership aims to lower the barriers to EV adoption while significantly expanding the reach and efficiency of charging infrastructure," said Thiago Hipólito, innovation director at 99 and founder of the Sustainable Mobility Alliance. He noted that the four partners are deeply integrating their resources to create a closed loop spanning vehicles, chargers, the grid, and platforms. This synergy from supply to demand, he added, will establish a sustainable business model for electric mobility in Brazil.

Under the deal, GAC International will deepen its presence in Brazil with high-quality EVs, while GAC Energy supplies the hardware and technical solutions. The plan involves rolling out 60kW and 120kW fast chargers across the dealer network to speed up service accessibility. GreenV, leveraging its operational scale—with over 15,000 charging stations and more than 600 active units already deployed in Brazil—will handle platform investment and site management. Meanwhile, 99 will use incentives to steer drivers toward electrification, funneling a steady stream of users to the network and participating directly in infrastructure development.
