Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 11) - Growth in the domestic automobile market in the first four months of this year was under 6 percent, auto.sina.com.cn reported today. The statistics came from a report released by the Chinese Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), which also reported that April sales were less than those of last year.
The CAAM paper reported 1.54 million vehicles being sold in April, which although was a drop from last year, was at least a 15.98 percent increase from March. Among the vehicles sold 1.16 million were personal vehicles.
A total of 6.43 million vehicles were sold during the four month period from January to April, representing growth of around 5 percent. Minivan and SUV sales showed the largest growth, growing 19 and 36 percent from last year, respectively.
