SEAT to sell in China next year, CEO says

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 20) - SEAT made its first official showing on Chinese soil yesterday as Auto Shanghai 2011 opened its doors to journalist, the Beijing Times reported. As Volkswagen's only subsidiary currently not selling in China, SEAT also confirmed that its Ibiza and Leon autos will enter the Chinese market next year.

James Muir, CEO of SEAT, remarked that entering China was part of the manufacturer's global expansion plan. President of Volkswagen China, Karl-Thomas Neuman, echoed Mr. Muir's remarks. Dr. Neuman added that more models were destined for Chinese sales, with domestic production to come as well.

SEAT is the only Spanish manufacturers that simultaneously handles own design, research, production and sales of its vehicles. VW bought the controlling share in the manufacturer in the 1980s.
