Zhao clarified that the Luxeed R7's drag coefficient of 0.217 was certified under national standard operating conditions at the CATARC wind tunnel, tested at a speed of 120 km/h. This stands as the lowest verified record for a mass-market SUV that complies with national standards and has been notarized and publicly disclosed.
Earlier on January 22, Luxeed announced that the all-electric Ultra version of the R7 achieved a drag coefficient of 0.217. This figure, officially certified by the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI), set a new record for the "lowest drag coefficient among mass-market SUVs globally."
Public information indicates the new Luxeed R7 went on sale in August 2025, with pricing ranging from 249,800 to 309,800 yuan. The lineup includes the Max version at 249,800 yuan, the Max+ at 269,800 yuan, and the Ultra at 309,800 yuan.
The vehicle adopts a OneBox design philosophy, which the company describes as a comprehensive evolution. Exterior updates include "Aurora Green" paint, auxiliary driving indicator lights, and a blacked-out logo. The body features hidden door handles, along with blacked-out wheel arches, rims, and trim strips. A 2.1-square-meter panoramic roof comes standard with an electric sunshade capable of 100% physical shading.
Inside, the Luxeed R7 features a new "Roland Purple" color scheme and a 16.1-inch 3K central control screen. It is the first model under Harmony lntelligent Mobility Alliance to offer dual zero-gravity seats for both driver and passenger, supporting 18-way adjustments with ventilation, heating, and massage functions. The audio system is a 21-speaker HUAWEI SOUND setup with a total output of 2,080 watts.
Technically, the R7 is equipped with the HUAWEI ADS 4 system and comes standard with 36 sensors. Compared to its predecessor, it adds one high-precision solid-state LiDAR and six external microphones, enabling intercom communication through windows and external voice control. It also features a new set of three distributed 4D millimeter-wave radar matrices; the company claims this allows for Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) even in complex weather conditions like rain, fog, or dust, supplemented by two 4D millimeter-wave corner radars.
