Gasgoo (Shanghai, August 1)-Beijing Central Area’s Traffic Performance Index turns out to be 5.2 in the first half of year, decreasing 10.3% with the same period of last year. Yesterday, Beijing Transportation Commission released governance result on traffic jam during the first half of year, and static traffic will be the main point of governance this year. A total of 2.01m illegal parking cases have been penalized by relevant departments. Anti-car piles will be installed in 150 municipal roads in the second half of year to protect pedestrians.
70 Long-standing jam sites are being reconstructed
Traffic jam governance project in 2016 starts with the reconstruction of 70 long-standing jam sites, located in Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, Chaoyang District, Haidian District, Fengtai District and Shijingshan District respectively. The finished projects have shown good effects. Traffic speed in some roads have risen 35%, while running time in other roads during evening rushing hours have eliminated from 30 minutes to 5 minutes.
7,432 illegal parking vehicles have been cleared off
Statistic data shows that a total 2.01m units illegal parking vehicles are being penalized by relevant departments in the previous six months, increasing 22% with the same period of last year. 7,432 illegal parking vehicles have been cleared off in the city, 2.8 times larger than the same period of last year.
Anti-car piles will be installed in 150 municipal roads
The city will promote green traffic this year, giving back non-motorized vehicle lanes to pedestrians or bikers. 1531 anti-car piles have been installed in 130 roads. Besides, 5,025 meters’ isolation fences and 470 meters’ sidewalk guardrails have been increased to protect the road rights of pedestrians and bikers. The anti-car piles will be promoted to 150 municipal roads in the second half of year. Till now, the design scheme has been finished.
