Bosch has signed a contract with the Changsha city government to extend its land plot for manufacturing and R&D facility expansion.
Covering a land area of 30,000 square meters, the design plan includes a new production facility, office-laboratory building and auxiliary building.
The project's total investment reaches 240 million yuan ($35.3 million) and construction is expected to be finished by mid-2012.
Once complete, the Bosch Changsha plant will be able to double its production capacity. In addition, a new R&D center for the electrical drives and divisions of starter motors and generators will be located at the site.
It is Bosch's fifth R&D center for automotive technology in China, after Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi and Chongqing.
