The Chinese automaker launched three new energy vehicles simultaneously for local consumers, introducing the BYD DOLPHIN SURF, BYD SEALION 6 EV, and BYD SEALION 6 DM-i as its initial lineup in the country.

The BYD DOLPHIN SURF, a compact battery-electric sedan, targets urban commuters with its affordability and efficiency. The BYD SEALION 6 EV, a fully electric SUV, combines performance, comfort, and intelligent features, including a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems. Meanwhile, the BYD SEALION 6 DM-i leverages BYD's proprietary plug-in hybrid technology to balance electric driving with extended range, offering flexibility for longer-distance travel while maintaining low energy consumption.
The move into Egypt represents a strategic step in BYD's broader push across the Middle East and Africa. To date, the company has established a presence in 30 countries and regions across the two markets, positioning itself as a key player in accelerating the transition toward cleaner transportation systems.
BYD said it plans to deepen collaboration with regional partners, further strengthen its local operations, and introduce a broader range of sustainable mobility solutions. Through continued deployment of new energy vehicle technologies, the company aims to support cleaner and more sustainable transportation development across the region.
According to the company's latest figures, BYD's total vehicle sales reached 210,051 units in January 2026, with passenger vehicles accounting for the vast majority at 205,518 units. Notably, its overseas sales of passenger vehicles and pickups climbed to 100,009 units during the month, representing a year-on-year surge of 43.3%. The performance highlights a significant milestone in BYD's globalization strategy, with international markets emerging as a major engine of growth.
