Gasgoo Munich- As the new-energy vehicle market enters the critical second-quarter sprint, BYD has delivered a robust monthly sales report for May 2026. The automaker's total sales climbed to 383,453 units, with passenger vehicles accounting for 376,990.
Globally, BYD's strategy is paying dividends. In May, overseas sales of passenger vehicles and pickups hit 160,177 units — an 80.7% surge from a year ago. That result not only set a new monthly export record for the company but also signaled accelerating brand influence abroad, making international operations a key engine for growth.

A breakdown by sub-brand reveals the following:
BYD Dynasty and BYD Ocean remained the bedrock of sales, moving 330,215 units in May. Contributing the vast majority of market share, they continue to fortify their leadership in the mainstream family segment.
Fang Cheng Bao also delivered steady performance, with May sales reaching 30,186 units. The brand continues to hold its ground in the personalized, professional-grade new-energy niche.
Denza recorded 16,303 sales in May, reflecting market validation for its high-end luxury strategy.
Yangwang, the benchmark for million-yuan premium new-energy vehicles, sold 286 units, further cementing its ultra-luxury positioning.
Cumulative data shows BYD Group sold 1,405,039 units from January to May 2026; overseas passenger and pickup sales totaled 614,470. By the end of May, cumulative new-energy vehicle sales had officially breached the 16.5 million mark, solidifying BYD's status as a global leader.
From monthly volumes nearing 383,000 and exports topping 160,000 to the 16.5 million cumulative milestone, BYD is rewriting the record books with its multi-brand matrix and global footprint. As its product lineup expands and overseas capacity comes online, the company is well-positioned to sustain steady growth through the coming seasonal lull.
