Shanghai, November 2 (Gasgoo.com) The light rail train made in China is set to roll into the European market starting from Turkey, a manufacturer in southern Chinese province of Hunan has announced, Xinhua News reported today.

CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co has secured a 350 million yuan ($51.2 million) contract from Izmir City, Turkey to deliver light rail trains to the city in April 2012, according to Han Jun, company's public relations executive.

"The deal showcases the strong competitiveness of made-in-China light rail trains as the European market is known in the industry for its extremely stringent standards," Han said.

The aluminum alloy train, with advanced equipment and comprehensive functions, is designed to carry 1,000 passengers at the maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour, which is quite high considering the rough road conditions, Han added.
