Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 20th)– For the convenience of R&D in new products, more and more auto giants are gathering in Silicon Valley and staying closer to high-tech enterprises such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Apple. Chinese auto producers are also following the trend.
LETV builds a R&D center in Silicon Valley
The new office, occupying a size of about 7,432 m2, was opened in April this year. Working staff introduce that, the office is mainly used for R&D of LeSee Project. Besides, more than 20 employees in Faraday Future, invested by LETV, are also working here and the team will be expanded in the future. LETV will also complete a land purchase transaction with Yahoo recently, located in Santa Clara with a size of about 202,342.82 m2. It’s said the land will be targeted as LETV’s global R&D center.
LETV also spends heavily on recruiting talents. Last week, LETV introduced Google’s Senior Legal Counsel, Joshua McGuire, as its Vice President and General Legal Counsel. Previously, another two senior officers were recruited from Samsung as COO and SVP of Human Resources.
BAIC recruits talents with high salaries in Silicon Valley
On June 13th, BAIC held a job fair in Silicon Valley and Detroit, the first time in two places concurrently. Cai Suping, Vice General Manager, reveals that BAIC plans to recruit more than 1,000 overseas talents in the “13th-five” period. “BAIC is developing fast in BEV market, ranking 1st in China and 4th in the world in terms of the sales volume. BAIC is speeding up the overseas expanding plan.”
BJEV established the R&D center in Silicon Valley last August, the first alternative energy vehicle R&D center in Silicon Valley built by Chinese auto groups.
Fighting battle for tech giants
SAIC, the biggest auto group in China, established a venture capital firm and innovation center in Silicon Valley with about $ 100m capital funds. In fact, more and more traditional auto giants are cooperating with, or even grabbing tech companies, to prepare for tech innovations.
