Gasgoo Munich-CIX Technology and Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, have announced a strategic partnership. The two companies will collaborate to build a deeply optimized Ubuntu experience on the Chipan P1 platform, tailored for AI and edge application scenarios. Together, they aim to accelerate deployments across AI agent boxes, AI PCs, robots, network-attached storage (NAS), and industrial edge computing.

Under the agreement, the partners plan to build on an earlier developer preview to offer an enterprise-grade Ubuntu experience backed by Canonical’s long-term maintenance services. Through Ubuntu Pro, the optimized image will provide up to 15 years of technical support, ensuring devices remain secure and stable long after deployment. The system natively supports the Chipan P1’s heterogeneous computing capabilities, allowing users to fully leverage up to 45 TOPS of combined AI computing power. Beyond supporting Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, the partnership will also extend to Ubuntu Core—a containerized operating system designed for the Internet of Things—to enable solutions with seamless over-the-air (OTA) upgrades.
On the commercial front, the optimized Ubuntu image supports hardware out of the box, giving original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and design manufacturers (ODMs) a head start in development. Leveraging Canonical’s hardware certification program, developers can focus on building high-performance applications and bringing innovative products to market faster. Furthermore, Canonical’s security patches and lifecycle management practices offer a clear path to compliance with the EU’s Cyber Resilience Act and emerging regulations in the edge sector. Executives from both sides noted that the partnership aims to lower the barrier to AI adoption, helping to build and scale a wide range of intelligent edge devices.
