Recent figures show US automakers are taking further market share from overseas car-makers.
The Detroit News has claimed that Ford’s US market share was up 1.5 points to 16.7 percent in the first half of 2009.
Chrysler’s share edged up slightly to 9.5 percent.
But General Motors saw its market share slip from 19.6 percent to 19 percent after cutting four of its brands.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Toyota has seen its market share dip from 16.6 percent in the first half of 2008 to 15.2 percent.
