Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 30th)– Beijing may launch policy on traffic-congestion charge, said Chinese authorities including Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau and Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport on conference on May 26, 2016.

China’s government may implement the policy by charging drivers based on their driving areas or times they will pass toll stations, following suits of UK and Singapore.

Reportedly, per capita transportation cost globally should account for less than 8% of per capita disposable income. However, parking charge drivers in Beijing may have to pay per year, about RMB5, 760 yuan, is more than per capita transportation cost, about RMB4, 000 yuan. Then policy makers in China may give careful consideration to deciding how much vehicle owners need to pay for their traffic-congestion charge. Some experts believe charge of from RMB20 yuan to RMB50 may be affordable and reasonable.

After all, implementation of policy on traffic-congestion charge should improve traffic condition, providing people in Beijing with better life.
