Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Dec 21) The booming electric vehicle market in China motivates more and more traditional automakers plot their road into launching new models which include the Great Wall, SAIC, Dongfeng and GAC.

Most of them target at rural markets in China. Undoubtedly, the winner has to be who sets an appropriate price and meets the demands of customers.

Pochun of SAIC-GM-Wuling is launching a new model of electric vehicle named E100. E100 will target at rural markets of the third-and fourth-tier in China and meet the demands of rural consumers who prefer low-cost vehicles.

It is said that E100 is a four-seat electric coupe whose shape is similar to that of Smart of Mercedes Benz. The G-shape rear lights make it look high-tech.

E100, reportedly, can develop a speed of 100 kilometers per hour and have a 100-kilometer range, much better than electric vehicles of low speed which now are widespread in rural China. What’s more, E100 enjoy a low cost compared to electric vehicles of other famous brands in China.

E100 now has no direct competitor in Chinese market of small electric vehicles. Only Zhidou D2 of China Zotye Auto can develop dislocated competition with E100. Though D2 has certain advantages in range, it is positioned as mini car and targets at the first-and second-tier cities in China.

As for E100, it will set a lower price and have a lower position than D2.
