Gasgoo Munich- Gasgoo Embodied Intelligence has learned that Ensuring Technology (Shenzhen) and Zhuhai Coligen recently signed a strategic investment agreement, formally establishing a joint venture: Zhuhai Shangyuan Sensing Technology.
That same day, the world's first mass production line for automotive-grade multidimensional piezoresistive tactile sensors—jointly built by the two partners—officially went live. The move signals a shift in the tactile sensor sector: the battleground is moving beyond lab-based performance specs to the realities of consistency, reliability, and scalable manufacturing.

The facility is designed to produce 5 million multidimensional tactile sensors annually in its first phase, with core production equipment already installed. Shangyuan Sensing will adhere to automotive quality management standards like IATF 16949. Leveraging Coligen's intelligent driving headquarters in the Zhuhai High-tech Zone, the operation is introducing mature reliability engineering, process control, and quality traceability methods to sensor manufacturing.
Initial mass production will target two primary applications. The first is robotic dexterous manipulation, providing contact, pressure, and multi-axis force data for robot fingertips and dexterous hands to support grasping, assembly, and precision tasks.
The second is tactile data collection. Using devices like tactile data gloves, the system records human touch information in real time. This data is then combined with visual and motion data to train embodied AI models.
As robot tactile technology moves toward large-scale application, the industry's challenges have evolved. It is no longer just about sensitivity, resolution, or sampling frequency. Instead, the focus has shifted to a question closer to the heart of industrial manufacturing: how to ensure that the first sensor and the one-millionth sensor perform as consistently as possible.
According to Ensuring Technology, the humanoid robotics industry will eventually heavily leverage the manufacturing and quality systems developed by the automotive sector over the past few decades. That belief is the primary driver behind the decision to build this line with Coligen.
Public records show that Coligen brings over 30 years of experience in automotive electronics manufacturing, with established systems in automated production, process quality control, and large-scale delivery. Ensuring Technology, meanwhile, has long focused on robotic tactile perception, conducting fundamental R&D in multidimensional piezoresistive touch, electronic skin, and tactile data systems.
